What E02 actually means
One of the temperature sensors inside the fridge freezer has stopped giving the control board a sensible reading, so the appliance is flagging a sensor fault.
The control board watches each temperature sensor and expects its reading to stay within a believable range. When a sensor reads open circuit, short circuit or wildly out of range — on this platform E02 points at the freezer side temperature sensor — the board can no longer trust it and puts up the warning. Montpellier's own instruction is that a sensor warning needs service, because the board will fall back on a default running pattern rather than proper temperature control, and cooling gradually drifts off.
What E02 looks like on a Montpellier fridge freezer

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch off at the wall socket, wait a minute, then switch back on — a genuine sensor fault will return within a short while, an occasional glitch will not
- Put a fridge or freezer thermometer inside and see whether it is still holding temperature, so you know how urgent this is
- Make sure both doors are closing fully and the seals are not folded over or dirty, as poor closing masks how well it is actually cooling
- Check nothing is stacked against the air vents inside the compartments
