Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F02 actually means

The dishwasher has tried to pump the dirty water out and hasn't managed it, so it has stopped with water still sitting in the bottom.

During the drain part of the cycle the machine expects the water level to drop within a set time. On these Servis models F02 is raised when that doesn't happen, so the programme halts rather than carrying on and washing in dirty water or overflowing. You'll usually open the door to find a pool of water over the filter and the dishes still soiled.

What F02 looks like on a Servis dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Servis dishwasher, F02 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Dishwasher door won't open
  • Door won't lock or click shut
  • Door lock light flashing
  • Door stuck shut with the load inside
  • Won't start even with the door closed
  • Dishwasher not draining
  • Water left in the tub at the end of the cycle
  • Stops mid-cycle full of water

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • A blocked or badly clogged filter and sump area in the base of the machine
  • The drain hose kinked, crushed behind the machine or trapped after it has been pushed back into place
  • A blockage in the waste pipe, sink trap or the spigot on the waste (very common where a new sink or waste has been fitted and the blanking plug left in)
  • Debris \u2014 glass, a fruit stone, a label \u2014 jammed in the drain pump impeller
  • A failed drain pump or, less often, a level sensing fault on the control board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Bail or sponge the standing water out of the base so you can see what you're doing.
  2. Lift out the filter assembly, rinse it under the tap and clear anything sitting in the recess underneath it.
  3. Look behind the machine and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, squashed or looped in a way that traps water.
  4. If the sink is slow to empty too, the shared waste is the likely culprit \u2014 clear the sink trap.
  5. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, switch it back on and start a short programme to see whether it drains.

Which Servis models show F02

F02 means the same thing on all 3 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

  2. Lift out the filter assembly, rinse it under the tap and clear anything sitting in the recess underneath it.
  3. Look behind the machine and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, squashed or looped in a way that traps water.
