Servis F03 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What F03 actually means

The dishwasher has worked out that water is still coming in when it shouldn't be, so it has stopped the cycle and is warning you before it overfills.

During filling the machine measures the water level, and F03 is raised when water keeps entering past the point where the fill should have stopped. Because the next step after that is water on your kitchen floor, the control board halts the programme and puts the fault up rather than carrying on. Servis's own instructions for this code are blunt: switch the water supply off at the tap and get an engineer out.

What F03 looks like on a Servis dishwasher

What usually causes it

Water inlet valve stuck partly open, so it keeps feeding even with the pump off
Faulty water level (pressure) switch telling the control board the tub is still empty
Drain hose fitted too low, letting water siphon back in and keep the level rising
Water sitting in the base tray from a small leak, which the machine reads as an overfill
Control board fault misreading the level signal

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the water supply tap behind or under the machine off — this is the first thing the manual tells you to do with F03
Switch the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up to see whether the code clears on a fresh cycle
Check the drain hose is not kinked or pushed too far down into the standpipe or sink trap
Lift out and rinse the mesh filters in the base of the tub, so nothing is obstructing normal water flow
