Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F08 actually means

The dishwasher has decided the water isn't heating as it should, so it has stopped the programme and put up a heater fault.

During the wash the control board watches how quickly the water temperature climbs. If the heat doesn't arrive when expected — or the temperature reading looks wrong — it flags F08 and abandons the cycle rather than washing in cold water. On these Servis machines the heating element is built into the circulation pump housing, so a heating fault normally means work on that assembly rather than a separate element.

What F08 looks like on a Servis dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Servis dishwasher, F08 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Dishwasher not draining
  • Water left in the tub at the end of the cycle
  • Stops mid-cycle full of water
  • Standing water in the bottom
  • Dishes coming out cold and wet
  • Not drying the load
  • Water not heating up
  • No function at all

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Failed heating element inside the circulation pump unit
  • A faulty temperature sensor giving the board a false reading
  • Poor water circulation, so heated water never reaches the sensor
  • Wiring or connection fault to the heater circuit
  • Failed control board misreading the heating stage

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on and start a fresh programme — an occasional one-off reading will clear.
  2. Take out and rinse the filters in the base of the tub; a blocked filter starves the pump and can knock the heating stage off course.
  3. Check both spray arms spin freely and their holes aren't blocked with debris.
  4. Make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or crushed behind the machine.

Which Servis models show F08

F08 means the same thing on all 5 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
