What E02 actually means
The machine can't confirm the door is locked, so it won't start or carry on with the cycle.
Before a Teknix washer dryer will take in water or turn the drum, it has to get a signal back from the door interlock saying the door is shut and locked. If that confirmation doesn't arrive, the programme is halted and E02 is displayed. In practice the drum stays still and nothing happens when you press start, or the machine stops early in the cycle.
What E02 looks like on a Teknix washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Teknix washer dryer, E02 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed

What usually causes it
- Door not pushed fully home, or washing caught in the seal stopping it latching
- Worn or broken door catch or handle mechanism
- Failed door interlock (the part that locks the door electrically)
- Wiring or connection fault between the interlock and the control board
- Control board not reading the lock signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the door and close it again firmly — listen for the catch to engage.
- Check no clothing, socks or duvet edge is trapped between the door and the seal.
- Have a look at the catch on the door and the striker on the machine for anything obviously broken or bent — no tools, just a look.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a short programme.
- If the drum is full of water, run a drain or spin programme once the door will lock, before unloading.
