What is actually happening
Some noise is normal and always has been — gurgling as refrigerant moves, and the compressor cutting in and out. What matters is a change. A rattle usually means something touching something else. Repeated clicking every few minutes with no cooling is a start relay failing to start the compressor, and that one will stop it cooling altogether if left.
The Blomberg fault codes that point at this
A Blomberg fridge will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to making a loud noise:
- E09 — The automatic ice maker isn't turning as it should, so the fridge freezer has flagged a fault with it — the cooling itself is unaffected.
- E13 — The control board has decided the motorised flap that lets cold air into the fridge section isn't working properly, so it has flagged a fault.
- E14 — One of the fridge freezer's internal cooling fans has stopped giving the control board the signal it expects, so the board has flagged it as faulty.
- E15 — The control board has lost the expected signal from the condenser fan — the fan that cools the coil and compressor at the back of the appliance.
- E16 — The fan that circulates cold air around the fridge section isn't running as it should, so the control board has flagged it.
- E17 — The fridge freezer has spotted a problem with the flap fan — one of the small internal fans that moves cold air around inside \— and it has flagged it rather than carrying on quietly.
- E18 — The fan that circulates cold air through the BioFresh compartment isn't running as the control board expects, so the fridge has flagged it.
- E24 — The control board has lost the fridge compartment's circulation fan — the fan that moves cold air around the fresh food section isn't running or isn't reporting back as it should.

The usual causes on a Blomberg fridge
