What is actually happening
The door interlock is deliberately stubborn: it will not release while the machine believes there is water in the drum, and on most machines it holds for a minute or two after the end of a cycle. A door that never releases is either a machine that still thinks it is full, or an interlock that has failed — often with the handle mechanism broken separately.
The Blomberg fault codes that point at this
A Blomberg washing machine will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to door will not open:
- C01 — C01 isn't a fault at all — it's the last second of the three-second countdown as the child lock is being switched on or off.
- C02 — This isn't a fault — it's the middle of the three-second countdown the machine shows while you hold the buttons to switch the child lock on or off.
- C03 — This isn't a fault at all — it's the three-second countdown the display shows while you're holding the button to switch the child lock on or off.
- E04 — The control board has lost control of the water inlet valve — the machine can keep filling with water even when it shouldn't be, so it stops the programme.
- E05 — The machine cannot get the water out — the drain pump either isn't turning or isn't being driven by the control board.
- E07 — The machine can't tell how much water is in the drum, so it stops rather than risk overfilling.
- E08 — The machine isn't getting enough water in, so it has stopped and flagged a fill problem.
- E09 — The machine cannot lock the door, so it refuses to start the wash.
