What is actually happening
Some noise is normal and always has been — gurgling as refrigerant moves, and the compressor cutting in and out. What matters is a change. A rattle usually means something touching something else. Repeated clicking every few minutes with no cooling is a start relay failing to start the compressor, and that one will stop it cooling altogether if left.
The Flavel fault codes that point at this
A Flavel fridge will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to making a loud noise:
- E09 — The automatic ice maker's motor isn't turning as the control board expects, so the machine has flagged the ice maker rather than the fridge or freezer itself.
- E13 — The fan that circulates cold air around the freezer section isn't turning as it should, and the appliance has flagged it.
- E14 — The fan that circulates cold air through the convertible "MultiZone" compartment isn't reporting back that it's turning, so the control board has flagged it.
- E15 — The fan that cools the condenser coil at the back of the appliance isn't reporting back to the control board, so the machine has flagged it as failed.
- E16 — The fan that circulates cold air around the fridge (fresh food) side has stopped reporting back to the control board, so the appliance has flagged a fault with it.
- E17 — The control board has lost the feedback signal from the flap fan \u2014 one of the small fans that pushes chilled air through the cabinet \u2014 so it has flagged a fault.
- E18 — The fan that circulates cold air through the Biofresh (crisper/chilled food) compartment isn't reporting back to the control board that it's turning properly, so the machine has flagged it.
- E24 — The fan that moves cold air around the fridge (fresh food) section isn't reporting back properly, and the appliance has flagged it as a fault.

The usual causes on a Flavel fridge
- A failing evaporator fan, often rubbing on ice build-up
