Some noise is normal and always has been — gurgling as refrigerant moves, and the compressor cutting in and out. What matters is a change. A rattle usually means something touching something else. Repeated clicking every few minutes with no cooling is a start relay failing to start the compressor, and that one will stop it cooling altogether if left.
The Grundig fault codes that point at this
A Grundig fridge will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to making a loud noise:
- E09 — The automatic ice maker's motor isn't turning as the control board expects, so the fridge has flagged a fault with the ice-making mechanism rather than with the cooling itself.
- E13 — The fan that pushes cold air around the freezer isn't turning at the speed the control board expects, so the appliance has flagged it up.
- E14 — The fridge freezer has lost the signal from one of its internal cooling fans — on this model the control board is reporting a fault with the JKR compartment fan, not the freezer or fridge fan.
- E15 — The fan that cools the machine's heat exchanger at the back isn't turning as it should, and the control board has flagged it.
- E16 — The fan that circulates cold air around the fridge section isn't running as the control board expects, so the appliance has flagged it and put itself into a limited running mode.
- E17 — The fridge freezer has detected that one of its internal air-circulation fans — the flap fan, which pushes cold air through the air channel into the compartment — isn't turning as it should.
- E18 — The control board has lost the fan that circulates cold air through the BioFresh compartment, so the appliance flags a fault and runs on a fallback pattern.
- E19 — The fridge freezer has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor that works with the flap (the air damper controlling how much cold air goes into a compartment), so it can no longer regulate that section properly.
