What is actually happening
A motor that runs while the drum stands still is almost always a snapped drive belt — the belt is a thin band that wraps the whole drum, and when it goes the motor spins freely with nothing to drive. The easy confirmation is that the drum will turn far too freely by hand, with none of the usual resistance.
The Hisense fault codes that point at this
A Hisense tumble dryer will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to drum not turning:
- F01 — The machine has asked for water and not received enough of it in the time it expects, so it has stopped and put F01 on the display.
- F03 — The machine can't get the water out of the drum, so it has stopped mid-cycle with the load still wet.
- F04 — The machine's control electronics have flagged an internal fault and halted the cycle.
- F13 — The machine can tell the door is shut, but the lock will not engage — so it refuses to start the cycle.
- F21 — The control panel you press the buttons on has lost proper communication with the main power board inside the dryer, so the machine won't take its instructions.
- F22 — The dryer's motor control board and its power board have stopped talking to each other properly, so the machine halts rather than run the drum.
- F24 — The machine has sensed more water in the drum than it should have — an overflow — or so much foam that it reads as an overflow, so it has halted the cycle to avoid water escaping.
- F98 — The machine's control electronics have reported a fault they can't recover from, so the cycle has been abandoned.

The usual causes on a Hisense tumble dryer
- A snapped or slipped drive belt
- A failed drum bearing or worn support rollers, which can seize the drum
- A failed motor or motor capacitor
- An item jammed between the drum and the casing

- With the dryer off, turn the drum by hand — no resistance at all points at a broken belt
- Listen: a motor humming with no drum movement is the classic sign
- Check nothing is jammed at the edge of the drum
