Electrolux C01 hob: what it means & what to check

What C01 actually means

On these induction models the power board measures current in two places: the incoming mains supply and the IGBT output stages that feed the coils. When those two readings do not agree, the board cannot trust its own measurements and stops rather than run a cooking zone blind. The code appears on the display panel that also shows the power levels, and on the rotary-control (Colibri) models it will usually come up as soon as a zone is called for power.

What C01 looks like on a Electrolux hob

What usually causes it

A fault on the power board itself — by far the usual finding
Damaged or degraded IGBT output stage on that board
Poor or unstable incoming mains supply to the hob
Heat damage inside the hob after prolonged running with restricted cooling

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall or at the consumer unit for a minute, then restore power — if it was a one-off reading glitch the code may not return
Turn all the knobs back to zero before powering it up again, and note which zone brings the code back; that helps the engineer
Make sure nothing is blocking ventilation around or beneath the hob, such as stored items in the cupboard below
