Electrolux E00 hob: what it means & what to check

What E00 actually means

The hob's two circuit boards aren't talking to each other properly \u2014 the touch/control board and the power board underneath don't match, so the hob shuts itself down rather than heating.

An induction hob runs on two boards: the control board you operate, and the power board that actually drives the induction coils. On start-up the control board checks it recognises the power board's software; if the two are incompatible it stops there and shows this code. The hob will not heat at all while it's displayed, and it isn't caused by anything you've done with pans or settings.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall or at the fuse/isolator switch, leave it for a minute, then switch it back on \u2014 the first step is a full power-down, and it does occasionally clear.
If the hob is new or has recently been worked on, have the paperwork to hand \u2014 a board fitted with the wrong software version is the usual cause and knowing what was changed saves diagnosis time.
