What E01 actually means

The hob's power electronics and its touch control are not set up to match each other, so the hob refuses to run.

On these Electrolux induction hobs the control panel and the power board underneath have to agree on what model they belong to and how many zones there are. E01 is raised when the power board reports a configuration that doesn't match — usually because the board's software settings are wrong for that appliance rather than because anything has burnt out. The hob locks itself out instead of firing up the coils, so the zones won't heat at all, or the panel bleeps and clears the setting as soon as you touch it.

What E01 looks like on a Electrolux hob

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Switch the hob off at the wall or at its isolating switch, leave it off for at least half a minute, then switch back on — the fault code sometimes clears on a reset
Check nothing is resting on or spilled across the touch controls, and wipe the glass dry
