What E08 actually means

The hob's control panel and the power electronics underneath have stopped talking to each other, so the affected cooking zone won't respond.

On these Electrolux induction hobs the knobs or touch controls sit on one board, and the power board that actually drives the induction coils sits below the glass. E08 is flagged when the control board sends instructions and gets no valid reply back from the power board. Because the hob can no longer be sure what the coil is doing, it shuts that zone down rather than heating blind — often it's one of the rear zones that reports it while the rest of the hob still works.

A one-off communication glitch that clears on a full power-down

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall switch or trip its breaker for a minute, then power it back up — a genuine one-off glitch will clear and not return
Wipe the control area dry and make sure nothing is resting on or against the knobs or touch panel
Note which zone shows the code and whether the others still heat normally — that tells the engineer whether it's one power board or the control board
