Electrolux C05 hob: what it means & what to check

What C05 actually means

The hob has spotted that one of its main power relays isn't releasing properly, so it has shut the cooking zones down rather than risk leaving power switched on.

Inside the hob, relays on the power board switch mains power through to the induction coils. The control electronics monitor those contacts, and when they detect a relay staying closed when it should have opened \u2014 sticking contacts \u2014 the hob locks out and shows this code. Electrolux's own service information for these hobs points straight at the power board itself, not at anything the cooking surface or controls are doing.

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall switch or trip its breaker, leave it for a minute, then power it back up \u2014 if the code returns straight away or comes back within a cooking session, it is a genuine board fault
Check nothing is blocking the ventilation gap around or beneath the hob, such as items stored tight against it in the cupboard below
