What E02 actually means

The hob has shut a zone down because the electronics underneath the glass have got too hot.

On these induction hobs the control board and the socket area behind it are monitored for temperature, and E02 is raised when that reading climbs past its safe limit — not the pan or the glass, but the electronics that drive the coils. The hob cuts power to protect the board, so cooking stops mid-use even though the pan itself may be nowhere near boiling dry. It usually appears after a long, hard run on high settings, or on a hob that cannot get rid of its own heat.

What E02 looks like on a Electrolux hob

What usually causes it

Airflow to the underside of the hob blocked — a packed drawer, a cupboard shelf or shelf liner sitting too close beneath it
Long spell of heavy use with several zones on high, so the board never gets a chance to cool
An oven directly below running hot at the same time
A temperature sensor (NTC) not reading correctly or poorly connected
Faulty power board, which then needs replacing

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Switch the hob off at the wall for a minute, then back on, and let it cool before restarting
Empty anything stuffed into the drawer or cupboard directly under the hob so air can move freely
Give it 20–30 minutes to cool and try one zone on a moderate setting rather than boost
Note whether it happens only after long high-power use, or within a few minutes of switching on — that difference matters to the engineer
