What is actually happening
Some noise is normal and always has been — gurgling as refrigerant moves, and the compressor cutting in and out. What matters is a change. A rattle usually means something touching something else. Repeated clicking every few minutes with no cooling is a start relay failing to start the compressor, and that one will stop it cooling altogether if left.
The Beko fault codes that point at this
A Beko fridge will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to making a loud noise:
- E06 — The motorised flap that lets cold air from the freezer side into the fridge side hasn't moved when the control board told it to, so the machine has flagged a fault.
- E09 — The motor that turns the ice maker's tray to drop ice cubes isn't reporting back properly, so the appliance has flagged the ice maker as faulty.
- E13 — The fan that circulates cold air around the freezer isn't reporting back properly, so the appliance has flagged a freezer fan fault.
- E14 — The fan that circulates cold air through the multi-zone ("Joker") compartment — the drawer you can switch between fridge and freezer settings — has stopped reporting back to the control board.
- E15 — The fan that cools the condenser at the back of the fridge has stopped reporting back to the control board, so the appliance has flagged a fault.
- E16 — The fan that circulates cold air around the fridge (fresh food) section isn't reporting back properly, so the control board has flagged it as faulty.
- E17 — The flap fan — the small fan that pushes cold air through the flap duct into one of the compartments — isn't reporting back to the control board, so the fridge has flagged a fault.
- E18 — The fan that circulates cold air through the BioFresh (crisper/zero-zone) drawer section isn't reporting back to the control board, so the fridge has flagged it as faulty.

The usual causes on a Beko fridge
- A failing evaporator fan, often rubbing on ice build-up
- The appliance not level, or touching a wall or the units either side
- A failing compressor or a start relay clicking repeatedly
- Loose pipework or a drip tray vibrating at the back
