What is actually happening
Oven doors are held by two spring-loaded hinges that take an enormous amount of use, and when one fails the door drops on that side and stops sealing. It matters beyond the annoyance: a door that does not seal loses heat continuously, so the oven runs cool, takes longer and costs more to use — which is often the complaint people arrive with instead.
The Electrolux fault codes that point at this
A Electrolux oven will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to door will not close:
- C01 — The oven won't start its pyrolytic self-clean because the telescopic shelf runners (or side racks) are still inside.
- C05 — The board that switches power to the heating elements has a relay stuck closed, so the appliance has shut itself down rather than risk heating when it shouldn't.
- C06 — The oven has spotted a problem with its cooling fan and shut things down to avoid overheating.
- F01 — The oven thinks its door lock hasn't engaged properly, so it won't carry on.
- F02 — The oven's door lock has failed to release, so the control has stopped and flagged a fault.
- F05 — The oven has detected that it's got too hot inside and has shut the heating down to protect itself.
- F06 — The oven's own control board is reporting that the temperature sensor fitted to it is giving a reading that makes no sense, so the oven shuts the heating down.
- F08 — The oven's control panel and the board that actually switches the heating on have stopped talking to each other, so the oven shuts down rather than heat blind.

- Check the seal all the way round for hardened or missing sections
- Stop using an oven whose door will not shut, rather than propping it — the surrounding units are not designed for escaping heat
