What is actually happening
An element that has cracked will leak current to earth as soon as it heats up, and that is what trips the RCD. The timing tells you a great deal: tripping the instant it is switched on points at wiring or the terminal block, while tripping only once it has warmed points squarely at an element. Where both the oven and the hob go together, the terminal block is a strong suspect.
The Electrolux fault codes that point at this
A Electrolux oven will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to tripping the electrics:
- C03 — The oven has detected that the electricity coming into it is below the voltage it needs, so it has shut the heating off.
- C05 — The board that switches power to the heating elements has a relay stuck closed, so the appliance has shut itself down rather than risk heating when it shouldn't.
- E01 — The oven's main control board isn't set up correctly for this model, so the electronics have shut things down rather than run with the wrong settings.
- F00 — The oven's control board can't reliably read or write its own memory, so it has shut the cooking functions down.
- F04 — The oven's temperature sensor is giving a reading the control board doesn't trust, so the oven has shut down heating.
- F05 — The oven has detected that it's got too hot inside and has shut the heating down to protect itself.
- F06 — The oven's own control board is reporting that the temperature sensor fitted to it is giving a reading that makes no sense, so the oven shuts the heating down.
- F08 — The oven's control panel and the board that actually switches the heating on have stopped talking to each other, so the oven shuts down rather than heat blind.
